Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri

Yet another game where I have absolutely no idea what’s going on. Even before I started, I knew this would be the case. I tried using the automated gameplay option to progress as far as I could in the game. Nope, didn’t work.

If there were an authority checking if I’m eligible to play a game or not, I’m 100% sure they’d ban me from this one. I know I’m not great at any game, but I think this might be one of my worst attempts ever. This is also where I decided to stop playing games in alphabetical order and pick them randomly (well, more like “oh, I like this one” level randomization).

The game has a tutorial. I think people who’ve played similar games would pick it up fairly quickly, but I found it very confusing. I couldn’t quite understand the effect of my actions.

There were a lot of in-game prompts asking me to make decisions about various things. I tried to play nice, but it seems some of the other leaders weren’t happy with my actions. Some blackmailed me, and others attacked my bases and resources. I couldn’t quite understand the battles—especially how to use flying units, which was unclear.

I really want to get back into this game and give it a bit more attention. Maybe I should play the game offline, figure it out, and then make an episode 2. I’ll think about it!

Enjoy!
